  Window Seat After

I was standing at the window holding one of the grandpuppies watching for my daughter and the thought occured to me how nice it would be to have a window seat.  A place where I could sit and read or the puppies could see outside…  and so the search began.  While looking on Craigslist for an entertainment center for the Daughter this oddly shaped image popped up…wow…that could be a window seat!    What we found when we arrived at the owners home was a pleasant suruprise, it was in perfect shape and came from Houseworks for $400.00…we secured the center for a mere $25.00 and raced home to implement the idea.  We tried to find a cushion or pillow or something to use as seat to no avail, especially for a decent price.  What we did instead worked out much better…we used a board left over from another project, picked up material on clearance at the fabric store and  piece of foam on sale.  The Hubby cut the board and the foam the size of the seat area and the fabric large enough to fold over.  We  laid the fabric down on the floor, the foam on top of that, board on top of that and then folded and stapled the fabric to the back of the board like wrapping a package.  Then all we needed was a few garage sale bargains to decorate it with , a pillow to lean on and a blanket to snuggle in!  All of us sit there from time to time and the puppies love to sit there and watch outside.

We have a small guest bathroom downstairs that everyone uses so I wanted it to be extra nice.  Standing at the door the sink is to your left in a small cubby and the toilet is to the right.  Originally The Hubby installed a pedestal sink found at a garage sale until we could find what we truly wanted; a vanity with a vessel sink.  We were helping some friends move and they had a chest of drawers they were throwing away because it was “broken”  Of course we  grabbed it up and took it home, because we knew right away it would make a good vanity for the little bathroom.  We also bought a vessel sink from these friends and a faucet…$40.00 for the set.

The Hubby cut the dresser down shorter but there was still the issue of the drawers being in the way of the plumbing.   He used the pieces he cut off  to form a shape that would fit around the plumbing.

The top is a piece of marble leftover from cutting off a vanity sink we used in a flip house remodel.   The 10′ marble double vanity top cost $80.00.  The Hubby cut it into 3 pieces, one was used to remodel a flip house bathroom, one piece was sold for $40.00 and the middle section with no sink is what we used.

The Hubby has always wanted an Eames Lounge Chair but even a replica runs about $2500.00!  We were out going to garage sales one day and all of a sudden he shouts “tell me I just saw that”, pulls over, jumps out and takes off.   I of course thought that he had lost his mind but got out to follow….low and behold there was his beloved Eames Lounge Chair with the Footstool !   We grabbed it for a steal of $65.00!!!!!!
